Today is Patriot's Day in Massachusetts. To make a long story short, Patriot's Day is a holiday about running. Paul Revere ran to Lexington and Concord to inform the Colonists that the British were coming. The British Army ran behind him and started a little fight called the American Revolution. As you can see, the news crews had also been tipped off and were waiting to photograph the scurmishes.
And, wait, that's only part of the excitement. This day also includes our own "running of the bulls," the Boston Marathon. Marathon Day is the day that all the young folks run to the race route to get drunk and cheer the runners. And all the old folks run the other way to avoid the noise and crowds.
I hope you have a wonderful Patriot's Day. I've got to run.
Perfect! Thanks for such a fun start for to my Monday.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Are you running out of the city today? To Maine perhaps?
ReplyDeleteHow clever are you?! Where are you running to...or from today?
ReplyDeletelove the smoke in the background of the first photo.
Have a good one! :)
Just don't get ran over!

OMG, I laughed so hard at your post! I did a Patriot's Day post also, albeit a little more somber than yours! I wish I had done it like yours!
ReplyDeleteHaving worked in Boston for 20 years I remember only too well taking the train with the human hot dogs, (that's a runner wrapped in foil to keep in body heat) and the party animals who had the day off! Don't miss it one bit!
I am happy that I did get to experience attending a few marathon's and Sox games before I started working in town!
Happy Pat's Day!
FYI, Maine became independent as part of the Missouri Compromise of 1820! Thomas Jefferson said it was a "fire-bell in the night!"
ReplyDeleteLaughing through breakfast!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend running in the Boston Marathon...good grief, he must be crazy to face that crowd...and he's a psychiatrist, too! Thank you for another enjoyable post.
ReplyDeleteDon't we see you leading the runners in that last photo?
ReplyDeleteVery funny!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! It's a fun day here if you're into the Marathon. I just went out to get coffee on the Marathon route, where they have already left and just re-opened the road. It absolutely bewilders me why American's are such piggly-wigglys, leaving their coffee cups and what not all over the roads and lawns. Bet you any money the Colonials picked up after themselves!
ReplyDeleteI remember taxes being due a day later because of Patriot's Day. Am I remembering correctly?
ReplyDeleteYeah Patriot boy...but inquiring minds want to know...did you run to get drunk...or run to RUN. Or just RUN to get the heck out of Dodge.
ReplyDeleteI have my theory.

Happy Patriots Day Steve. In my younger years, I was in the middle of it all. it was always fun time - a sign of Spring. Nowadays, I stay FAR away. Still fun to watch on t.v. though. : )
ReplyDeleteBoy do I enjoy a dry sense of humor. Loved your post!
ReplyDeleteYour posts have brought me much enjoyment. the way you approach the various situations in your house, generate possible fixes and then end up with something that solves all the considerations is just great and it is what I am trying to with my new project.
ReplyDeleteI broke ground yesterday for a 24'x60' log cabin. The site has no utilities and is accessed by a bridge rated for 8 tons. This means that cement trucks, bulldozers, gravel trucks, lumber trucks and well drilling rigs can not get into the site.
I wish you lived near Charlottesville Virginia and could walk by, sum up the problem, generate some well considered solutions and we could both take pictures and enjoy the outcome.
Keep up the good posts. Ann
