Kickin' Back

Thank you for all your well wishes, chanting and candle lighting.  I was able to get
my building permit late last week which came at the perfect time to enjoy the weekend.

Blogging friend Flower Jane, hostess of the world-famous Flowers in the House party,
was passing through town so Shelley and I gave a tour of our favorite Maine and Boston
haunts over the weekend.  Here are a few of the weekend highlights from Instagram.

Vintage boat fenders/bumpers at York Antiques in York, Maine.
When was the last time you saw mermaid boat fenders?

I'm a sucker anything with eagles too.

Great dragon chandeliers at Pier 77, Cape Porpoise, Maine.

There are so many pretty things at Snug Harbor Farm and not
wanting to  be repetitive, I'm finding it fun to find beauty in
the things that many people wouldn't look at.

Stairs in the barn, Snug Harbor Farm.

Wall in the potting shed, Snug Harbor Farm.

Algae-covered pots, Snug Harbor Farm.

I love the variation of color in the succulents, Snug Harbor Farm.

Yellow golden pheasant, Snug Harbor Farm.

Trophies at Restoration Hardware, Boston.

Acorn Street, Beacon Hill, Boston.

George Washington, Public Garden, Boston.

I hope you all kicked back and enjoyed the holiday weekend.

    1. Jen,
You'd love it there; you should head north sometime and check it out. I can share all my favorite spots.

    1. It was actually three weeks from time of submission for approval. Once the requested photos and the survey were taken in, they approved it on the spot. The delay stopped progress for a week and half but all's well that ends well. I'm eager to see progress too.

  5. Got to admit that I have newer actually seen mermaid fenders before. Glad you shared.

Very jealous that you got to spend time with Flower Jane ... someday, I hope. I think she's on her way to the Big Apple for a celebration this week. Am filled with jealousy!

Hope things pick up in the house this week.

    1. I have to admit, I was a little nervous about the window and door changes in particular but I wasn't asking for a big change so I think they have bigger fish to fry.

  11. Amazing photos as usual! You sure do have to seem to have some great shops in your part of the world. Was delighted to see what looks like an Australian flag behind the trophies at Restoration Hardware - our flag is very similar to the New Zealand flag so its hard to tell without seeing all of it. But it makes me feel as though I am on the tour with you and your Friend. What a delight Snug Harbour is and THAT pheasant! My goodness. Best wishes for your reno, I'm positive it will be stunning. Regards, Tricia.

    1. Thanks, Tricia. I was wondering that was an Australian flag but didn't consider the N.Z. one was so similar. I'm glad you felt you were on the tour. It makes me happy to share my little piece of the world with the rest of the world!

    1. The stairs were in the barn, not really a public part of the farm but I snuck back there to share them. Glad you can appreciate them.

  14. Hey Steve, you know how I spent my weekend (oh well), but boy, how I'd love to be able to hop on a plane and visit your neck of the woods, maybe with a personalized tour of your favorite antiques shops and garden centers. I could really use a break!

  15. Congrats on the permits, that must be such a relief now you can move on. That's great that you Shelley and Jane got together! Isn't that cool? When I went to Spain in June and met Alicia from Prunus I was so excited. Really nice tour of Snug Harbor Farm, that pheasant defines the color yellow!

  17. How cool to actually meet some Blogger friends!
Sounds like you all had fun.
I'm a bit of a hermit and a tad anti-social but it would be kinda cool to actually see that my blogger friends exist! LOL!
Very nice photos, you have such a great eye.
Of course I LOVE the pheasant. I might "pin" him for inspiration for illustration. :)
I'm glad your got your permit sooner rather than later.
I bet your cats will be glad when this adventure is done!

    1. I'd love to see what you do with the Yellow Golden Pheasant.

The cats aren't minding the construction at all. They're kind of like "Oh, hammering again?"

I'm lucky is just over an hour away. Yes, I heard that Withington is closing in November but that he'll still be doing some shows. Not sure if that means Brimfield. I'll see if I can find out.
