PTMD Collection Foam Plants

I was out and about last weekend and came across some amazing "flowers" from PTMD Collection and I wanted to share them with you.  They immediately reminded me of...

Six Swans Entry, Designer:  Steven Gambrel
...the foyer of the Six Swans house designed by Steven Gambrel that I highlighted in the
A Room with Two Views post I did with Camille from The Vintique Object.

I thought it would be fun to take a look at these faux "flowers," made from some kind of foam,
and juxtapose those against some other rooms in the Six Swans house.

The connection seems to go beyond color palette; many of the plants seem like
they have come from under water.

I've been admiring this bathroom since I first saw it.
I love the wave pattern on the sink.

These "flowers" reminded me most of sea creatures, resembling something
of a cross between oysters and barnacles...

...can almost be seen growing in the pattern on the chairs that are
sitting on a sandy sea floor.

The "flowers" come in black, brown, white, blue, purple, green and gray.
The ones I've shown are all gray.

To see more of the Six Swans house visit Steven Gambrel's website and
or the Frank Greenwald Architect website for the exterior shots.

PTMD Collection flowers are available locally at Winston's

I thought they were really unusual.  Have you seen anything like them before?

  2. I agree. I first thought the first picture was of a sea creature. Love the photos!

  3. How unusual! I've never seen anything like them. Definitely barnacled sea creatures. How interesting the way your mind works, seeing the same pattern and colour in disparate things. Wonderful! I love when the mind makes connections like this.

  4. I love them and I love the Dutch way with flowers and plants, real and faux.

I have an echiveria tipped in red that came our way over Christmas.

Just a splash of red on the tips. Perfect.

and as creative as your post.

  6. I too thought they were sea creatures--the first picture looks like it was taken at the aquarium. Love your pattern and color observations.

  7. Steve you certainly make me look around myself more often and no, I've never seen foam plants before but the texture is nice. Love that narrow bathroom above too and great use of a darker color.

  9. At a quick first glance I thought it was something with icing drizzled all over it.
(day 3 of this new diet and I'm craving a pastry.)
    Thankfully it wasn't food.
    Now, at second glance...
    it still looks like icing.

  10. I have not! Pretty cool. Some of those remind me of sculptures. I like the gray ones, of course :)

  11. I have not seen anything like it. I agree with you on them looking like a sea creature or shells.
Your last photo looks like an oyster shell sphere I made.

    Very interesting! Good texture!

  13. I recently came across a photo of the same kind of coral used in the Stephen Gambrel photo, used in the same way -- sticking out of bowl. Wish I could remember where so I could send it to you.
Amazing what folks can make...and that they ever had the idea to make foam sea flowers in the first place!

  14. P.S. I think I have to have that brass whale on the powder room sink. Anyone know where to find one?

  15. Hey, Steve! Happy New Year! I've seen some really nice ones at Z Gallerie. I've also seen some of a lesser quality but nonetheless interesting at Hobby Lobby. They really ARE cool looking...and pricey!!! We have such a traditionally-styled house that I feared they would look out of place here. I an urban cottage, though......! ;-)
