Urban Cottage in Cottage Style Magazine

My dining room table

Several months ago, I did an interview with Better Homes & Gardens about my decorating style.  I'm glad it wasn't a live interview because I'm sure I sounded like an idiot...or crazy.

The article is in the Fall/Winter 2012 Cottage Style Magazine.

The magazine is a specialty publication that won't be in all stores but  I'm told is available
at Home Depot and other fine stores
but it is also available on-line at the BH&G shop.

The article can also be previewed on Zinio.

The article includes some of the same photos from the Cottage Style book along with new
ones that make it seem like a totally different house.

It's official.  I think my 15 minutes of fame are about up.

  7. This is SO cool, but I'm not totally surprising because your home is so beautiful and unique!
I think I've seen this publication at Target before so I hope to pick it this weekend.

  10. Those QUILTS! Love them and their stories.

Your home is so magazine worthy-soak it all in.

Speaking of your home...what's going on with that modern art/peeling paint bedroom? Hope you are making progress :)

  12. You decorating guru, you! How funnynitnis that while you are still deciding about some of your rooms it is already of a standard to be in such a respected deco tome. The parts you don't recognize- did they rearrange things for the shoot. Was it a good experience?

  18. Congrats Steve. At least I can say I knew you before you were famous. Which means I am one of the few people you can probably trust.

    ;D

Will look for it next time I am in Home Depot. Which is never. So I will have to make a special effort just for you.

BTW, I finally got that last book out of the library that your house was in. Cottage Style? Very nice spread but no kitties anywhere and as I looked at it, I wondered if they brought anything in for the shoot besides the photos. I did not recognize all the stuff.

  20. The 15 minute bit only applies to ordinary folk. For those with style, talent, vision, energy and generosity--you know, for folks like Steve--there is no limit!

I had this issue in my hand at the grocery store just the other day but got distracted remembering something that wasn't on my list and put it down. Will go back tomorrow.

  22. Wonderful, exciting, and not surprised either. Glad they recognized good style and got it documented. Not 15 minutes anymore - now you're in the history (of interior design) books.

  29. You are so funny Steve! I have a hunch this is just the first few seconds of a much deserved fifteen minutes...time can be relative. ;)

Lovely, lovely spread...but not a surprise as you are so talented and have such an artistic eye. Congratulations!

  34. This is just the beginning. Surely there's a book to follow, 'coffee table' variety, filled with luscious photographs. I would buy it.

  35. Congrats. But 10 bucks for one magazine issue seems rather spendy.

    1. I wouldn't disagree but there are no advertisements in it which, I think, is why it's priced higher.

  36. LOL..I'll have to look it up to take on my trip! Yon my friend...your 15 minutes will never be up! BTW...I've paid more than $10 for a mag... If its a good one, which these speciality BHG mags are...you'll just keep it like a book!

  37. Believe it or not, I found this great issue in Walmart in Stuart, Florida!
I was so happy to get one because I had been looking for it and there it
was! I had to buy some craft materials and Walmart is the closest store
to me. Now I think I understand your home a little better after reading that great story about you and your charming house.
