Happy Easter

Amaryllis Picotee
Although we think of amaryllis as a Christmas flower, we're celebrating
Easter with one last flourish from Amaryllis Picotee.

Amaryllis Picotee

Picotee's lovely white flower has a green center and fine red penciled edge.
I love how the red defines its very sculptural edges.

We'll be enjoying a quiet Easter hanging out with a few good friends, enjoying
good food, and sitting on the chairs we're not normally allowed to.

Whatever you do, however you celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful day!

  2. I was so intent on the details of the petals that your cat startled me!

    1. Actually she's a girl. I don't know why but everyone thinks she's a boy. She's actually quite petite and walks around on her tippy-toes, spinning in circles like a little ballet dancer. Her name is Zazu. Zazu Kitts.

    2. (Made me chuckle). I think all cats are girls and all dogs are boys until told differently. Is this profiling? Love what you said about her moves. She's sweet.

  5. Steve, Hope you have a great Easter with your friends and the lovely Zazu Kitts!! Are you old enough to remember the wonderful movies of Zazu Pitts? - I presume that is who the cat is named after!! They were great movies with such style!
The Amaryllis is magnificient, and being a florist, I am green with envy that I have never seen this beautiful variety. You are a man of many talents and a source of inspiration.
Best wishes to all my fellow Urban Cottage devotees.

  8. Happy Easter Steve. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your beautiful home and neighborhood with us. Keeping up with writing a blog must be hard work, but I look forward to reading them every day. I hope to get to the East coast someday, but until then, I live vicariously through your pictures. I think Spring is finally here!
