Give me a few minutes and I can correlate almost any two things.
I have a fairly good view of the Boston fireworks from my back porch.
And I was thinking as I was looking through my Instagram photos.
How much the fireworks resemble the garden right now.
Many of the flowers just seem to be exploding.
Ohhhhhh.
Ahhhhh.
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July...
...and maybe a few extra days off...
...to enjoy the explosion of color.
Nice simile, Steve. You got some pretty good shots through the trees.
ReplyDeleteVery clever...your garden is looking pretty darn good...I guess that happens when you get rain...
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of flower is that in the fifth photo down?
ReplyDeleteI want one!
Very clever post.
:D
I was fortunate to have the 4th off but worked today and will again tomorrow. Now, and actually the whole summer, is my very busiest season. Seems like everyone has gone out of town and needs me to take care of their fur-kids....but that's a good thing!
I've been enjoying your flower close-ups on Instagram - charming correlation now with the fireworks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post, my friend! And you are right, a great connection. I hope your 4th was a good one. I will post tomorrow about mine in Rockport, which was insanely hot but fabulous. My images are not as great as yours, however ;-) How's the bathroom coming?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers Steve! I can see the fireworks from my balcony here in Leawood! So much beauty!

2013 Design Series!
I love it. And don't forget Monarda AKA Bee Balm, the plain old backyard flower that looks the most like fireworks. When I was a kid, I called then 'sparkler flowers' and my grandmother knew exactly what I meant.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, isn't this kind of ability to connect-the-dots exactly what separates artists & designers & people like you & me from other people? OK, I guess lawyers have a similar ability, but they use their powers for evil and not for good, so their power must come from a whole nother source.
As far as your thoughts about "time off", in the antiques biz, when everybody else is on vacation, you're working, but, still, I appreciate the thought.
Love the comparison!
ReplyDeleteExplosion of color boy: Someone is getting mighty creative.
ReplyDeleteyou're the best
ReplyDeleteWow Steve, I never thought of the flowers as being like fireworks but they certainly are. The flowers in your yard are absolutely exploding with beauty. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteAren't you lucky to have such a view from your back porch! We drove to a country club not far from our house where they have the most wonderful fireworks display each year for their members (and all of us non-members who line the streets and sit along the edge of the golf course to watch the show). Your flowers are so pretty! Happy 4th to you!
ReplyDeleteClaudia
Excellent correlation, professor.
ReplyDeleteSo creative! You could pursue this and turn it into one of those little gift picture books that they sell alot of during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteJust read the comment from My Little Bungalow. We also walk over to a country club for a great fireworks show - her description sounds so similar it makes me wonder if we were at the same show?
i see the correlation too. well done steve.
ReplyDeleteStunning pairings--they are gorgeous! I'd love them framed--each paired in a single mat and frame (the mat cut for two pictures with space between ). Your instagram photos are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWell, I didn't think I had done the conversion from Google Reader correctly, but apparently I did! And, I am so glad I am not missing anything. Can't wait to see the "after" photos of the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteKim
My son could see a portion of the fireworks from his roof in the North End. I was a little jealous because I couldn't come to Boston for the 4th this year. I do hope that I will get to see them again. What a charming correlation of two of my favorite things!
ReplyDeletenow that is the kind of fireworks i love!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Sir.

My favorite kind of fireworks! The floral ones...extremely clever post...Happy weekend!!
ReplyDeleteSteve you never cease to amaze me with your comparisons! I hope you’ve had a wonderful long weekend. Finally cooled off for us as of this morning..ahhhh!

Amazing post! You have to be one of the most creative people I know! I may seek your decorating advice very soon, keep an eye out for my next post! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and yes, I agree, an explosion of color all around!
ReplyDeleteThese examples are perfect...love how you brought them together...
ReplyDeleteSteve: What a post; I love the comparison...so creative! Cindy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post and pics!
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile. Your comparisons are great and I loved the "grand finale" fireworks of the last image.
ReplyDeleteJust found your lovely blog via Country Weekend. I shall be back to read more ...
ReplyDeleteWOW...spectacular!
ReplyDeleteHello Steve-With-The-Best-Design-Eye,
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who is not on Instagram? (Can't muster to add one more thing...). Your pictures are wonderful.
Hope summer is treating you well.
Hugs,
Mon
Gorgeous flowers and fireworks and love the comparison. We had a wonderful 4th and saw a spectacular fireworks display over the sound - our flowers - not so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteI agree with design chic-- beautiful and great comparison (and god ..that purple/blue hydrangea is gorgeous!)
