Remember the wingback chairs I bought on ebay? Since they're a smaller scale wingback, I thought they'd be perfect to use in the new dining room/study.
This is their mugshot from the ebay listing. Rosemary thought they looked like big-hipped, opinionated women that would walk around and peer into my drawers and cupboards when I'm not at home.
They went off to be recovered a few weeks ago and they've just come back.
And here they are now.
They look more pale in the photos but the fabric is another ebay purchase. It's Kravet oatmeal linen that was $25 a yard.
I loved the lines of the chairs so I highlighted them by using a dark brown faux leather welting. The welting material is called Mustang.
I also chose bronze upholstery tacks.
The chairs have a higher seat so they're the perfect double-duty solution for study or dining room. They look at home in the room now. I love how the legs of the chair and the table really complement each other.
I just need to finish clearing out the room so the project can get underway.
*No animals were harmed in the recovering of these chairs!
Omg, stop it with the gorgeousness!! Those girls are fantastic, I can hardly stand it. I get more excited than anyone you'll ever know about fabric and an upholstery transformation. These are to die for and your keen eye and style has done them perfect justice. Love the nailhead and the contrast welt. Now do tell, what will we see for treatments on those windows? :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, stop it with the gorgeousness...you're killing us! Do I even need to say how beautiful they are now.
ReplyDeleteDid you take some of the hippiness off them...they look slimmer.
GORGEOUS fabric and I LOVE how the nailhead just goes right around the corner and not the whole front.
Yes, they look stunning with the table...a very sexy pair they make! :) I'm lovin this room already ~
Wow! What a change. They are lovely. I adore the welting. Perfect!
ReplyDeletePerfection. I just can't believe the transformation. Now if only a little linen, welting and nail head trim could transform my hippy-ness.
ReplyDeleteCamille
I am crazy over the welting and the contrast it gives to the linen- just gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThey are stunning - a total transformation from ugly duckling to glorious swan. The faux leather piping is a gorgeous tailored touch. Perfect! You've got style! I love the carved detail on the legs...

Beautiful. Huge change!
ReplyDeleteYou always do the perfect thing! They are so handsome. I cannot wait to see this room complete.
ReplyDeleteDamn Steve...they are stunning! Love, love , love the legs. The nailhead detail is perfect. I also think those chairs dance when no one is looking. It's a Beauty and the Beast thing. Think Lumiere. Are your cats declawed? Mine is not very friendly towards my chairs. They really turned out gorgeous! But did we think they would be anything but?
ReplyDeleteok showoff. so you sent them to the spa and they came back all gorgeous. rosemary cracks me up. so when are you quitting your day job and opening up your new interior design business?

Classic! Love them
ReplyDeleteLooks like your girls graduated summa cum laude, A+, they are stunning! It's amazing what a little lipstick and mascara will do!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Those girls are now too dignified to even think of nosey-ing near your drawers. They're WAY ABOVE that now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I like how you send things away and they come back beautiful. Sounds like heaven.
They are very handsome, but if you don't put them opposite each other I bet they'll gang up on you. Rosemary had a point.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. Can't wait to see it all together.
ReplyDeleteDaryl
Wow! Nice chairs! Beautiful fabric...should work well in your 'new' space...

Steve,
ReplyDeleteThe chairs turned out handsomely and look just right in your study/dining room.
I look forward to seeing the totally finished project.

They are absolutely gorgeous! How would these chairs be described now? Too cool for school, I think. Do you hire yourself out for decorating advice? I've got a big old living room to do over....
ReplyDeleteLove these chairs so much. They are the perfect scale for the room. Those legs are fantastic. Love the patina of the old finish on the chairs. And I love the way you had them recovered with the dark piping. When I was a kid my Mom sewed a lot...my clothes and she put piping on everything! It became a running joke with my friends. Mom always said that "Piping just finishes it off!" I love your house so much!
ReplyDeleteWELL...I'll BE! The big-hipped hussies went to fat camp!
ReplyDeleteNow slim and classy and oh so suave!
You ARE a miracle worker! Hey...I do believe I have a chair that I did in similar fabric...still looking a little fat assed though...
Those are now some snappy tasty chairs...good job!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see this room come together, I know it's going to be fabulous!
This is a wonderful 'before' and 'after' - you have a terrific attention for the details.
ReplyDeleteI featured your blog at stylesson.com today. I look forward to seeing more details!
Rosemary's comment was hysterical!! Love the new chairs- such beautiful details!! I was going to comment that no animals were harmed, and then you beat me to the punch!!!
ReplyDeleteYour chairs look very happy!!

The chairs are perfect. Where did you have them done?
ReplyDeleteThe upholstery was done by The Custom Shop in Watertown, MA that does business out of Freddy Farkel's fabric store.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading thru your entire blog, starting at the begining and jumping around some. Now I have lots of questions for you.
ReplyDeleteDo you just have raw decor talent, as in are you just gifted or are you trained? I mean you make excellent choices, where does it come from. Were you born with a good eye? LOL, I know you've heard the expression before. People having a good eye.
Is this your first home remake and decor project?
I could write a letter with a million nosey questions.
Oh and your wingback chairs are handsome/fabulous!
These are gorgeous!!! And I love the rug. Mind sharing the source? Thanks! TJ
ReplyDeleteTJ,
ReplyDeleteThe rug is from Natural Home Rugs found here: http://www.naturalhomerugs.com/
Here's another post I did on the rugs when I added bookshelves to the dining room and needed to cut it down:
