Since it has been quite a while since you mentioned that the hardware was missing and the store couldn't provide it, I can only imagine the "negotiations" that have transpired in the meantime. I can't say I'm inclined to do business with this merchant regardless of how stylish their things appear in the catalogue. (Clever photography by the way!)
Looking forward to the evolution of Plan B--and also to The Book coming out in the next couple of weeks. I'm torn between ordering it now on Amazon or waiting for it to hit the shelves in a local bookstore.
Oh oh...and here I thought I would be looking at the newly decorated room!
Frustrating on your end I am sure-but sounds like West Elm is doing the right thing. I won't ask how many hoops you had to jump through to make that happen.
My daughter bought a great bed at a local resale place in San Diego-so maybe looking around some of those places by you would help? Or, if you want a sleeker look, CB2, Anthropology and even "Tar-jay" have some interesting things on line.
Not a fun thing to have to deal with I am sure. Hopefully you will find an even better replacement. I am looking forward to seeing the room when it is finished.
The only thing I ever ordered from them was -- coincidentally -- a bed; headboard, footboard and frame. It arrived with no problems, except it was not so easy to assemble, you know: pictograms. Good luck with a replacement. Best...Victoria
It must have been frustrating. It really was a sharp looking headboard. Knowing your attention to detail the replacement will be perfect. Good luck on the hunt.
I saw the little pic on someone's blog and came right over thinking it was the new room reveal...sorry that the bed didn't work out. I'm sure there were hoops to jump through...but you want to get to get it right...btw...i think you found the perfect white paint for us. Now I won't have to have it color matched. Thanks!
This only means that something more fabulous was meant to be in your space. As much of a pain as that is, sending it back clears the karma and opens up the possibilities. (Do you want to roll your eyes now? Go ahead. I can take it :)
Hmm, I see the box says "West Elm" . . . can I tell you I wasn't impressed with them . . .
I'm sure you'll find the perfect bed! Maybe a nice estate sale . . .
There's a wonderful furniture company on Rt. 1 in York, ME, I'm not sure if it's your style, but you may want to check them out. http://www.jeremiahcampbell.com/
rutt-ro.... I didn't know it was coming, much less going back! sorry, what a pain. but, do tell- could save someone else the heartache! I like the way Carol thinks.... couldn't have said it better myself!! happy week! joan
two words...estate sales.

I hate it when something does not work out :-( Very disappointing and time consuming. Good luck with your search. Have a great weekend!

The last thing that I ordered from there got lost (a sofa btw, how the hell do you lose a sofa?) but I can't complain about the customer service.
ReplyDeleteSo incredibly frustrating! good thing you are a good negotiator.
ReplyDeleteUh, oh. Not good. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with!

So frustrating! I hate returning things. I know it will be a relief when it's gone and you can start over.
